GuideOne Insurance Announces Two New Board Members

GuideOne Insurance today announced the election of Todd C. Hart, former Chief Executive Officer, Narragansett Bay Insurance Company (NBIC), and Robert P. Hartwig, Ph.D., CPCU, Clinical Associate Professor of Finance, Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina, to the company’s Board of Directors. Mr. Hart and Dr. Hartwig will each serve three-year terms.

Hart is a proven chief executive with an extensive background and leadership record of building senior teams; successfully operating in complex environments; delivering cultural, operational and ownership change; and producing financial results. In his prior role as Chief Executive Officer at Narragansett Bay Insurance Company, he lead the company’s senior leadership team, directing all company policies and operations to assure NBIC cost effectively grew its capability to select and manage risk as well as service agents and policyholders. He has more than 20 years of experience in a variety of financial services leadership, investment management and analytic posts. Hart earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School, and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina, where he was a Morehead Scholar. He was also a Henry Luce Foundation Scholar at the Securities Exchange in Thailand.

Dr. Hartwig is an esteemed economist who is considered to be the voice of the insurance industry to the public. As clinical professor of finance and director of the Risk and Uncertainty Management Center, his research focuses on insurance markets and structures, risk management, risk-bearing capital market instruments, the financing of technology risks and venture capital in insurance markets. He makes frequent presentations to insurance industry management, boards of directors, regulators and legislators. Prior to joining the Darla Moore School of Business, he was President and economist for the Insurance Information Institute in New York. His professional experience includes expert witness testimony and testimony before numerous congressional and state legislative committees. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science degrees from the University of Illinois, and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Dr. Hartwig also holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) credential and speaks frequently in the media on all issues related to insurance markets.
